Our Story

The AMA (WA) Foundation is a charitable entity of the Australian Medical Association (WA) (AMA (WA). The charity was established in 1996, providing a platform from which the Association could expand its reach for contributing to the health and wellbeing of the West Australian community.

Dr YES (Youth Education Sessions) was the first initiative to be introduced through the Foundation. The aim was to provide much-needed health education to young people. Dr YES was a great success, unique in both its delivery and content. The success and demand for Dr YES identified the vast need for continued support within the youth sector, and it was decided the program would remain a core focus of the AMA (WA) Foundation. Dr YES was followed by the Youth Friendly Doctor training program and the WA Youth Services Directory in 2001 and 2008 respectively.
